Customizable Mount Abilities arrives WoW Patch 8.2!

Blizzard officially announced some details about Battle for Azeroth's 8.2 patch: Rise of Azshara. Blizzard is letting players customize their mounts with abilities in 8.2. We're not sure how many different mount abilities will exist in 8.2, but Blizzard has already detailed three:

- A saddle that prevents your mount from kicking you off after receiving damage

- A parachute that prevents you from taking damage when jumping from high places

- Shoes that allow your mount to walk on water

Feasel revealed that these new perks came from years of players exclusively using the Water Strider mounts. The Crimson and Azure Water Strider mounts are some of the only mounts in World of Warcraft that can walk on water. In the early days of a new expansion, when flying is still disabled, the Water Strider mounts are popular among players. Swimming across or walking around a lake is much slower than riding over it, after all.

To help players who felt forced into using the Water Strider mounts, Blizzard came up with the equipment system coming in 8.2. Players can still use the Water Strider mounts to walk across ponds and lakes, but they won't be the only options. Many World of Warcraft players have hundreds of mounts to choose from, and this change should add some variety back into the world.
